Greetings to ALL the past AACRC Faith & Food Gardener Volunteers!
It's that time of year when gardeners get excited, get their hands dirty and look forward to the blessings God bestows on us with the harvesting of His produce. For our first four years participating in Faith and Food Gardens, our church was able to donate over 1,000 pounds of produce to Food Gatherers for people in our community!
- 2011: 213 pounds
- 2012: 420 pounds
- 2013: 426 pounds
- 2014: 380 pounds
- Grand total: 1,439#
As in the past, from the time we first plant until the harvesting is completed in the fall, we will need people to water, weed, harvest and deliver the produce to Food Gatherers. Many have signed up to tend the garden, but 8 weeks are still open. They are:
- 8/17 – 8/22
- 8/24 – 9/29
- 8/31 – 9/5
- 9/7 – 9/12
- 9/14 – 9-19
- 9/28 – 10/3
- 10/5 – 10/-10
- 10/12 – 10/16
As noted in the church Bulletin, Our First Group Garden Planting Work Day is planned for this Saturday, May 30th at 9:30. We will be:
- • Planting the summer crops - tomatoes, squash, carrots & beans
- • Planting the flower containers & marigolds
This year’s schedule is:
- 1st Group Workday: Planting – May 30st at 9:30am
- Growing Season needs – weekly tending of the garden
- 2nd Group Workday: Fall Garden Clean-up – October 17 at 9:30am
